Arthur W. Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship

The Buerk Center promotes entrepreneurship to students across the University of Washington campus and beyond. Our students become leaders who challenge the status quo and change the way business is done.

The Buerk Center brings students from many disciplines together in the classroom and provides the framework and incentives to convert their ideas into thriving businesses. Over 70 businesses have launched as a result of our academic and practical experience programs.

Program Highlights

The UW Business Plan Competition is a premier Foster School event involving more than 400 alumni and entrepreneurs as judges, mentors, supporters.

The UW Environmental Innovation Challenge encourages students to solve our world's most pressing environmental problems with innovations that have market potential.

Entrepreneurship Certificate UW graduate students can earn a certificate in entrepreneurship while gaining real-world experience and mentoring from the best of Seattle's thriving entrepreneurial community.

The Jones + Foster Accelerator helps early-stage, student-led companies get off the ground with six months of help from expert mentors and up to $25,000 in follow-on funding.

After screening 92 submissions to this year's UW Business Plan Competition, our panel of over 200 judges selected 36 teams to move on to the Investment Round on April 29.
